A 35-year-old Lake Villa man was arrested Thursday, June 15, by Lake County Sheriff’s deputies in connection with the death of a Gurnee area woman from drug overdose.

Glenn E. Trauthwein of the 100 block of North Milwaukee Avenue was charged with drug-induced homicide and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

On March 3, sheriff’s deputies found Collen J. Todorovic, 33, of 18700 block of West Highland Drive in unincorporated Gurnee unconscious and not breathing. Deputies determined that she was likely suffering from an opioid overdose and administered Naloxone, while applying life-saving measures. The life-saving attempt was unsuccessful and Todorovic was pronounced dead.

An investigation by sheriff’s gang task force showed Trauthwein was responsible for supplying heroin to the victim. The heroin sold to her ultimately led to her death, investigators said. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Trauthwein is being held in Lake County Jail on a $750,000 bond with his court appearance set for July 6.
