Mayor John Hucker, village board members, and employees of Beach Park, have something to be proud of.
For the seventh consecutive year the Village of Beach Park has received the Government Finance Officers Association of the Unites States and Canada’s (better known as GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget documentation.
The award is a significant achievement. It represents the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the budget award, the village was required to satisfy a host of nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.
Peggy McHugh, Beach Park’s finance director also received an honor in the form of a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation by the GFOA.
For budgets beginning in 2015, a total of 1,565 participants received the award nationwide. Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting throughout the US and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America.
The Village of Beach Park continues to strive to increase transparency of information to residents, staff and board members through its financial reporting.
The GFOA (Government Finance Officers Association of the Unites States and Canada) is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 19,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
