Read Outside the Box
The ‘Stories in the Park’ series is one of summertime favorites! Load up the kids, a blanket and snacks then head to one of Gurnee’s local parks for a fun time of storytelling and singing. Kids love this interactive storytime where books come alive and music fills the open air. Meet library staff at Warren Township Park Shelter B on Friday, June 10, at 10 a.m.; at Wadsworth Park on Friday, June 17, at 10 a.m.; and then at Viking Park on Friday, June 24, at 10 a.m. No registration is required.
Summer Reading Kick Off Event
Ballet Folklórico visits WNPL to help us kick off the Summer Reading programs on Saturday, June 11, at 1 p.m. Decked out in lavish costumes, these performers will take the audience on a ride of regional dances from Mexico, introducing fascinating folklore and ceremonial rituals. Movie Matinee for Kids
Kids out of school? No problem. Bring your kids into the library on Monday, June 13, at 2 p.m. for a Movie Matinee. The library will be showing Wreck-It Ralph (rated PG) on the big screen and serving animal crackers to those who attend. Guests are welcome to bring your own snacks and beverages as well. All ages are welcome with an adult. No registration is required.
Hey Batter Batter!
Come and celebrate the great all-American pastime on Wednesday, June 15, at 1 p.m. Presenter Steven Frenzel will show a spectacular collection of film clips from popular and classic baseball films. Get in the Game
Summer is approaching which means more time with the family. Why not come to the library for Family/Adult Card & Game Night each month throughout the summer? The first one will be held on Thursday, June 16, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Drop in anytime during the designated time. Bring your own game or try one from the library. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration is required.
Sensory Movie Matinee
A sensory-friendly screening of Air Bud World Pup (G) will be shown at the library on Saturday, June 18, from 2-4 p.m. These screenings are designed for children with special needs.
